Hello, everyone! I’m Tammie Ong. I am 19 years old this year and from sunny Singapore. If you’ve been following my journey, you’ll know I’m facing some health challenges, but that hasn’t stopped me from embracing life to its fullest. Buckle up and join me on an exhilarating journey through my experiences.🎢
The journey began in 2021 with a severe flu (thankfully not COVID) that triggered a cascade of health issues. While it took a week to recover from the flu, unfortunately, I never regained my health. A cerebral spinal fluid leak confined me to bed for two agonizing months, leaving me dizzy and in excruciating pain, making even walking a challenge. As time passed, eating became an ordeal. Every meal resulted in vomiting and widespread pain throughout my body. Those were undoubtedly trying times.
It took a while, but we eventually found a team of doctors willing to treat me, and I couldn’t be more thankful. My main diagnosis involves an unspecified autoimmune condition that affects my digestive system, nerves, nervous system, and bones. I’m currently in the hospital due to the advancement of my condition, which has led to intestinal failure. I depend entirely on TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition – IV nutrition) and saline fluids to maintain my functionality. Additionally, I have two feeding tubes—a gastrostomy tube and a nasojejunal tube.
Even though my condition is progressive and my future is uncertain, I’m determined to keep living life to the fullest.
Why wait for perfect health to embrace life fully? Despite the unexpected turn, it’s given me a platform to share my story and aid others in similar situations. I hope my journey inspires you to seize every moment. Embrace challenges as they come and live without restraint. Instead of fixating on what’s beyond control, shift focus to how you interpret the situation. You can struggle against it or see it as a lesson. ❤️
